Early Tuttle resident Martin Cochran (right) and his friend Ed Ford were known for some shenanigans. A member of the Chickasaw Nation, Cochran received a land allotment east of Tuttle and worked on the Montford Johnson Ranch. He is the son of Arnaca Wolf Cochran and Alexander Cochran and the great-grandson of Joseph Wolfe, an early judge in the Chickasaw Nation before statehood. Martin Cochran died in New Mexico when his horse reared up and fell backwards on him. This image was shared by Betty Smith of Tuttle, whose photo collection of Chickasaw Nation heritage is substantial. Martin Cochran was married briefly to Minerva Pikey Cochran, who is featured in this gallery. Find her picture and learn her story.
The Tuttle Then and Now gallery displayed at the First National Bank & Trust Co. in Tuttle was designed to commemorate the people and places that make Tuttle unique. FNBT has been an independent community bank serving central and southwest Oklahoma since 1892.
