Jonathan Morris

Assistant Vice President, Assistant Manager

Banking hasn’t always been at the forefront of my career. For the past 20 years, the empowerment of people and the community has been my calling. I had the privilege of pastoring and leading churches in three different states. As a pastor, I’ve learned many life lessons along the way that help me to be a better banker. Some of those lessons are how to communicate with others, how to make people feel comfortable, how to listen, and make people feel heard.

Just like many community members, my family was affected by the pandemic. I was led in a direction, to my surprise, of the financial industry. The doors that have been opened for me, as I embrace this new journey, have been incredible. Not only do I get to use my interpersonal skills and leadership gained by being a pastor for so many years, but I’ve been allowed to embrace a new community with a prominent business that shares the same core values. My growth from an entry-level position to the assistant manager of FNBT’s downtown location in Chickasha has given me opportunities to learn many different facets of not only the banking industry and what we do at FNBT but also continue to grow as a leader.

I believe leadership enrichment is a vital part of any business or career. Part of my dedication to being a community banker is learning the many facets of community members’ needs and wants. I’ve been fortunate to participate in Leaders by Heart developed and led by Dr. Lew Sterrett. Being able to represent the bank as an ambassador for the Chickasha Chamber of Commerce and the upcoming class of Leadership Chickasha is such an honor.

When I’m not at the bank, I enjoy spending time with my beautiful wife of 25 years and our sons, who are out on their own and making a difference in their respective fields. Nature is a way for us as a family to unwind and enjoy time together.  Like many of my fellow Oklahomans, I enjoy fishing, hiking, hunting, and kayaking. And boy do I have some fishing stories! Our love for the outdoors led my wife and I to start dabbling in photography. It was a way for us to express our creative side, capture the beauty we were seeing and experiencing, as well as capture memories to cherish.

My time with FNBT has been very rewarding and I look forward to many more years of continuing to serve our customers and community.  I’m committed to your financial success. Come and see me so we can discover together what your financial success looks like!
